3. Black knot is caused by a fungus dibotryon morbosum and if affects the cherry tree.

4. The cherry tree provides shade for plants, the fruits provide food for birds and bats.

5. There leaves are the same and they have the same parts.

6. The fruit from the cherry tree is canned or preserved and marketed.

Wool:

1) Wool is mostly grown and sold in Australia.
2) Some items that are made from wool are carpet, blankets, throw, rugs, cushion covers, hat, coat, sweaters, scarves, gloves, and jumpers.
A lot of different household items are made from wool.

Potato and Dialysis Lab

Weight
Before/after
Diffusion or Osmosis
Potato 1
Plain Water
6 grams
Looked like a normal potato.

Potato 2
Salt Water
3.3 grams
Looked like a normal potato.

Dialysis Tube
6.78 grams
Inside the tube was starch solution and it was white.

After

Potato 1
Plain Water
.10
After a day they potato slice looked the same as the day before, but the potato weighed less then the day before.
Diffusion
Potato 2
Salt Water
.217
On the second day the potato was shriveled up, it was black and brown and it weighed less then the day before due to the salt water and it kinda had a smell to it too.
Diffusion
Dialysis Tube
2.27
The inside of the tube was now black and bluish because the Iodine came through.
Osmosis

DNA Replication

Photo_on_2011-03-24_at_12.15.jpg
1) DNA replication starts with one strand of DNA.

3) DNA polymerase separates the "unzipped strand of DNA and the hydrogen bonds between bases are broken.

This is they key for all of the different parts of the DNA. Go by this chart not the ones on the paper.

2)Then, the enzyme DNA helicase "unzips" the DNA.
4)Then the new nitrogen bases such as adenine, thymine, cytosine, and guanine reconnect with the old nitrogen bases that were abandoned after separation.

Description

DNA replication begins with just a single strand of DNA. It is then unzipped by DNA helicase and separated by DNA polymerase. In this stage, the hydrogen bonds between the nitrogen bases are broken. After that, the proper nitrogen bases line up with the nitrogen bases that were left after separation. Two exact models are now made. Finally, the two strands are zipped back together with DNA ligase and the product is two identical strands of DNA.

Vocab Words

Telomeres -they protect the dna and they also help keep the end of the chromosomes in the cell from coming
together and attaching.
Okazaki fragments -when the replication process begins and if the dna strand is open enough the okazaki fragment will come in and the
DNA can begin to synthesize.
DNA Ligase -comes in later in the process when it works the opposite way as the okazaki fragments work.
Telomerase -an enzyme which adds telomere in the repeat sequences to the end of a DNA strand, this makes
the strand longer and is able to finish synthesis of the not finished ends of the other strand.
Cancer -cancer cells can split apart faster, and they have a high level of telomerase through there cell cycle which stops further shortening of their telomers.
Transplanted Cells - they are mortal, after awhile of mitotic divisions they will die.
Cloning -when something is cloned it will have a shorter lifespan because the telomeres are shorter then norma
